Improving the Quality of Life of Everyone
I will work to improve the quality of life for everyone in the 11th District. Quality of life differs from person to person. Everyone has different needs and wants. I plan to focus on three areas where I have seen the greatest needs. By concentrating my efforts on these three areas, we will improve the quality of life for everyone.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND JOB CREATION
Milwaukee’s North Side has seen a lack of opportunities for years. Major manufacturers have left the area and businesses have closed down. We need an economic development agenda for Milwaukee. We need to bring jobs and opportunity back. I will work with local leaders to attract investors and job opportunities into the area.
SHARED REVENUE AND FULL FUNDING OF SERVICES
As a local elected official, I have seen firsthand the state’s disinvestment in our schools, roads, and vital services. I will fight for our fair share of resources—making sure that our public schools and our community services have the funds they need to meet our needs.
BETTER SCHOOLS AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
I have seen a tale of two school districts. I was raised in the City of Milwaukee but had the opportunity to attend Shorewood schools through the 220 program. All of the things that were missing at my neighborhood school they had in the suburbs. Now, as a parent and school board member, I am seeing the same inequities still exist. I serve on the Glendale-River Hills School board. We have ample resources to work on pressing issues like closing the achievement gap and helping our kids prepare for high school and college. Just a few blocks away, I see a school district with double the class size and a lack of books and other supplies. I want to make sure that ALL of our kids have the opportunity to be the best they can and to have the best education.
